Why Reciprocal Teaching?
Reciprocal Teaching is a research-based comprehension technique that has demonstrated over 30 years of success in dramatically improving reading comprehension (Ozcus, 2018).
John Hattie's (2018) Visible Learning Research found it to have an effect size of 0.74 on student learning- that's almost 2 year's worth of growth in just 1 year.
This course aims to build your knowledge on what full-strength implementation of this practice looks like (i.e the type of practice that leads to the large effect sizes from Hattie's research.) It unpacks the what, why and how of effective implementation and clears up a few (very) common misconceptions about this teaching practice along the way.

In this course I've teamed up with fellow literacy consultant Mardi Gorman to explore all things full-strength Reciprocal Teaching.
